Releasing my first single - Let Us In

Updated: Mar 27, 2020

"We Know What We Need..."

I am so proud to say that the release of Let Us In has identified a very important milestone for me as an artist.

I have been writing, recording and producing my original music for the last decade, but this is the first song to make it to Spotify and other streaming services. It's been a long journey for me, but this release marks the beginning of much more to come.

I released this song with the invaluable help of my partner in music and in life, Kornel Sylwester - who produced and mixed the track. Without his talent, patience and support, I would not have been able to do it! And yes, we had some ups and downs and disagreements as we created the song... but honestly, it's expected. We created something meaningful and personal together, each bringing our ideas and opinions to the piece.

Working with such a close member of my family has its pros and cons but after this experience I can easily say that the beauty of being able to share this experience with him far outweighs some of the complications that come along with living with my producer! :)

This release also taught me to let go... During this process I saw the necessity of letting go of the weight I felt of having ten years worth of songs waiting in the wings, the vulnerability that I felt as I released my first one out into the world, and the value in compromising with and trusting in my creative partner. I learned that perhaps obsessing over a millisecond moment that occurs in the bass or drum line may not be beneficial for the song or for the working relationship that I have with Kornel.

When it comes to the finished work...

I'm endlessly proud to say that there is no better time for Let Us In to be heard.

Let Us In is a Protest Song!

The song demands for power to the people and was written inspired by grassroots, people powered movements taking place in the United States and around the world, such as the Occupy Wall Street protests, Bernie Sander's presidential campaign, and Greta Thunberg's fight to save our planet Earth!

Let Us In was released on February 21, 2020 - days before Super Tuesday and the weekend that Bernie Sanders made history when he became the first presidential candidate, democratic or republican, to win the popular vote in all three early voting states of Iowa, New Hampshire and Nevada.

Let Us In asks the question: What will happen to our lives, our rights and to our planet if we do not begin to stand up against the forces that are keeping us down?

If this is meaningful to you, support the presidential candidate that will fight for you and your family, join the fight against climate change, and most importantly RAISE YOUR VOICES LOUD!

"We know what we need, now it's our turn to lead"

"We know what we need, now it's our time!"

It's all about the links baby...
